Independent Studio

Mary Helen works in a small, home-based studio several days a week. There are certain days every week where the studio has typically gone un-used, so she thought, why not share?

When is Independent Studio available?

There are the following 4-hour slots weekly available:

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday PM (5pm to 10pm)
  • Monday, Friday AM (10am to 2pm)
  • Saturday AM (9 to 1)
  • Saturday MID (1 to 5)
  • Saturday PM (5 to 9)
  • Sunday Late PM (6 to 10)

How does this work?
A subscription to Independent Studio is $85/mo for one dedicated slot. This subscription is an upgrade from the Pro Kiln Club membership and would replace the previous $34/mo rate.

This subscription includes the use of studio tools, equipment, and dipping glazes. This does NOT include clay or per batch firing fees. Firing fees will be based on pro-rates.

What does the studio offer?

Mary Helen’s studio has one Pacifica pottery wheel, a small Bailey tabletop slab roller, one work table, a variety of plaster molds, stamps, hand tools, and about a dozen dipping glazes.

The space is heated and air conditioned, has a utility sink and wedging table. Independent Studio members will each have one dedicated shelf to store clay, supplies, a damp box, or whatever else.

The studio also has WiFi, an Amazon echo to stream music, and WAY too many selfie tripods.

Who is this for?

Independent Studio is meant for potters and ceramics artists who are fully comfortable working on their own. Instruction will not be available during these hours. Folks with at least 2 years ceramics experience will be preferred over other applicants.

Will I be working alone?

Only one member will be scheduled per time-slot, and typically Mary Helen rarely works in the studio during these times. You will have a passcode to enter the studio and will typically be alone while you work. When and if Mary Helen does need to work in the studio during Independent Studio time, you will have priority for space and equipment. P.S. The studio is equipped with a security camera for safety’s sake.
